FortmcMurray First United Church

Worship

What will you find when you join us for worship on a Sunday morning? First, you will find a welcoming smile!

You will also find lots of singing, which is incorporated throughout our service. We are also blessed with a rotating team of five talented musicians who play the piano and organ. We use two hymnbooks: Voices United and More Voices.

During our worship we value energy and openness … words and silence … stories from the Bible and the stories of our own lives … praise and lament.

Our worship services include prayers, hymns both old and new, a time with young people, scripture readings (based on the Revised Common Lectionary), sermons that relate the Bible to our contemporary life and culture and offering. Sunday School is offered following the time with youth when the children continue their worship outside the sanctuary.

On Communion Sundays (which happen once a month) the children rejoin the adults, and we are invited to celebrate this sacrament together.

Our prayers include time for silent prayers, as well as prayer requests for concerns of our individual lives and those of our community and our world.

During the year we hold a number of special services, and special Holy Week services including Good Friday.
